COESI Website Linking policy

The Centre of Excellence for Sensory Impairment website includes links to many external websites. These links are provided to give users quick access to high quality and impartial information on local and national sensory impairment services, equipment and adaptations.

The COESI Consortium members take great care over the choice of websites linked to and reviews them regularly, but we are not responsible for the content of those sites. The inclusion of a link to an external website from the COESI website should not, therefore, be interpreted as an endorsement of that site, its content, or any product or service it may provide.

Transactions between users and any external site are not the responsibility of the Centre of Excellence for Sensory Impairment.

How our links are chosen

Before we link to an external website we will check to assess its suitability. We may consider linking to retail sites for specific items of equipment and if so charges may apply. We will reserve the right to link to a number of sites selling similar items.

It is a requirement of all websites that we link to that they:

  • have a good standard of accessibility
  • are free to access,
  • do not require registration to view basic content,
  • make a clear distinction between normal editorial content and any advertising they may carry,
  • provide clear, relevant and useful information

We also will expect external websites to:

  • be clear about their status and their sources of funding,
  • have robust quality assurance procedures for customer service,
  • present a responsible perspective, reflecting the existence of choices,
  • be regularly reviewed and kept up to date
  • use current and reliable clinical evidence on any health matters that is verifiable from other sources.
